Week 5

 Wow – it’s week 5 already!

5.1 Testing  This week I will begin testing the children who started school at the beginning of the term.  I will try to keep our routines going as much as possible, but some days your child may just bring home a new poem for reading, or a book they have chosen from their box that they have already read.

Young Vinnies Can Collection   The Young Vinnies are collecting cans of food for the food bank.  Each can they children bring to school, earns a point for their house.  If you are not sure what house your child is in, I can write the initial of the house on the cans as the children bring them to school.  We will keep the cans in our classroom, and the Young Vinnies will do a collection each Friday.

Swimming - Friday   Mrs Holmes has kindly invited us to a pool party with Rm 18 on Friday for Golden Time.  So, bring you togs on Friday please.  It sounds like lots of fun!  (Friday is the only day we will be swimming this week).

Boy’s School Shorts  Can you please check to see if your child has Nate’s shorts.  They are clearly named with a red iron on label.  They may have been accidentally muddled up with someone else’s last week after swimming.

Mufti Day – Friday  The Young Vinnies are organising a mufti day on Friday.  Children are invited to come dressed as a book character.  Please bring a gold coin donation.  The money raised is going towards a Special Needs Christmas party.

The SKY TV Special Children’s Christmas Parties in association with Manuka Doctor are the biggest events of their kind in New Zealand for special needs children and their families. We work closely with hundreds of charities, schools, community groups and government organisations throughout New Zealand to select these special children. The children invited are children who suffer from one of the following: life threatening illness, physical and intellectual impairment, domestic violence, or living in underprivileged circumstances.
At every event across New Zealand these children are treated to a day of celebrity stage shows, fun rides, interactive games, plenty of yummy food, face painting and many more fun activities. The highlight of the day is when the children enter Santa’s Toy Cave where they are given 2-3 high quality toys to call their own.

P.T.A lunches – Friday  As usual the children will be able to order a sausage and/or a juicy on Friday.  They are $1.50 each, so $3 if you want both.  Orders are taken for these in the classroom before school.

See you all tomorrow. 😊
